Award-winning journalists Jeremy Bowen from the BBC, and Christina Lamb OBE from the Sunday Times will be among the speakers at Just a Drop’s annual Royal Geographic Society lecture this week.
The BBC Middle East editor and chief foreign correspondent at the Sunday Times will join Matthew Price, chief correspondent for BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme on Thursday February 2 for the lecture Danger, Deadlines & Frontlines: A Glimpse into the Lives of Foreign Correspondents.
The foreign correspondents will discuss their experiences reporting from some of the most challenging environments across the world, share stories from the field, and examine the role of journalism in conflict zones.
The discussion will be followed by a Q&A, chaired by Stephen Sackur, BBC HARDTalk presenter, and Just a Drop charity patron.
All proceeds from the evening will go to Just a Drop, an international water development charity working to provide communities in remote and challenging environments across the world with access to clean safe water and sanitation.
Fiona Jeffery OBE, chair and founder of Just a Drop, said: “I am thrilled that once again Just a Drop is able to host such a prestigious event at the Royal Geographical Society, after the success of our Life Behind the Lens lecture earlier in the year.
“The insight that these leading foreign correspondents can share will make for a fascinating and enlightening evening, and it’s great to be able to share this with friends of Just a Drop and also new supporters. Funds raised from this event will help us to continue to transform the lives of communities worldwide through the provision of clean water and sanitation.”
