Former Wendy Wu Tours group chief executive Joe Karbo has been appointed Moresand Group’s new chief operating officer.
Karbo joined the Asia specialist tour operator in 2016, and later served as acting managing director for its UK business.
He took up a one-year posting as managing director in Australia last July before leaving Wendy Wu in the summer when the company’s chief executive role was restructured.
Moresand said Karbo would be “globally based”, reporting to directors PS Kang and Sukh Kang.
In the newly-created role at Moresand, Karbo will be responsible for the group’s operations across its 10 global offices on three continents, employing 600 staff.
The group’s brands include Crystal Travel, TravelCenter, World Airfares, Affordable Luxury Travel, Mabuhay Travel and Paramount Cruises.
“Joe will spearhead our long-term strategy by streamlining global operating processes, expansion into new markets and supporting the company’s technology teams,” said managing director PS Kang.
“We’re delighted to have someone of Joe’s experience and knowledge onboard.”
Karbo added: “I’m looking forward to working closely with the leadership and global teams. The business has been established for more than 32 years with strong brands so continuing its success and growth will be my focus.”
