A travel agency managing director is hoping to raise more than £2,500 for charity after cycling from London to Paris.
Full Circle Travel’s Niall Douglas rode a 300-mile route over four days in aid of industry charity Abta LifeLine earlier this month.
Douglas, who runs the Oxfordshire-based travel agency, undertook the challenge after taking part in the charity’s London to Brighton cycle event last year.
“I had a great time riding last year so when I heard of the opportunity to go from London to Paris I just thought ‘why not?’ as it’s an incredibly worthy cause,” said Douglas.
Departing from Crystal Palace in south London on September 14, he cycled to Dover alongside 70 others raising money for a variety of charities, to board a ferry to Calais.
From the French port, he travelled to Abbeville and the city of Beauvais before arriving in Paris on September 17.
The final day of the challenge allowed riders to cycle down the Champs-Elysees in the city – a route famously taken by participants in the Tour de France race.
“Riding to the finish line in Paris was an incredible experience and one I’ll never forget,” continued Douglas.
Douglas has so far raised £2,000 and is aiming to add around an extra £500 in the coming weeks.
“I’m going to enjoy collecting the rest of the money knowing it’s done,” he added.
“So many people within the travel industry benefit from Abta LifeLine and they do some great projects.
“In life you never know what’s round the corner so it’s vital to have an organisation like that to help.”
