Airport security could soon improve on a global level as the UK calls for better common standards.
Prime minister Theresa May will this week use her trip to the United Nations in New York to promote a resolution for proper bag checks and a ban on liquids at airports around the world.
It will mean countries in North Africa and Asia will be encouraged to provide the same levels of security commonly found in the western Europe and North America.
The countries will also be encouraged to enforce the rules of the International Civil Aviation Organisation while richer countries will help meet the cost of the improvements in poorer nations.
