GTMC chief executive Adrian Parkes is to retire from the business travel organisation this summer.
Parkes, who has been in his role since September 2017, announced his retirement on Wednesday (April 3). He previously worked for airlines BMI and Etihad, as well as for travel management company Portman Travel.
During his time at the GTMC, Parkes has initiated partnerships with universities and training companies as part of his focus on education. He also launched the GTMC’s Entrepreneurs in Business Travel Award last year.
The GTMC said its board had started the process of appointing the organisation’s next chief executive with details to be announced “in due course”.
Paul Allan, chairman of the GTMC, said: “I am extremely proud and grateful for all that has been achieved during Adrian’s leadership of the GTMC. Not least, he has been instrumental in shaping relations with both Iata and the leading European travel associations, as NDC (New Distribution Capability) becomes more and more of a reality.
“Additionally, he has been the driving force behind the strides the GTMC has taken to future-proof the sector through various education initiatives. He will be leaving with our thanks and very best wishes.”
