InterContinental Hotels Group continues to expand in the German market with five new hotel signings.
The company already has 64 hotels in Germany and will add five more Holiday Inn and Holiday Express properties in Baden-Wuerttemberg; Bavaria and North Rhine-Westphalia, writes Plamena Manolova.
Baden-Wuerttemberg will benefit from three additional Holiday Inn hotels, one in Pforzheim and two in Mannheim. A 140-room Holiday Inn Express Pforzheim will open in late 2019, a year after the Holiday Inn Mannheim City – Hauptbahnhof opens its doors. The third addition will be the 160-room hotel Holiday Inn Express Mannheim, located in Mannheim city centre.
The Bavarian Holiday Inn Express Regensburg will be a 182-room hotel located in a Unesco heritage site once it opens in late 2017.
In late 2018, the 140-room Holiday Inn Express Oberhausen will open in Oberhausen.
Robert Shepherd, chief development officer Europe, IHG, said: “The German hotel market is accelerating at pace and we are well positioned to take advantage of the appetite for branded growth. With 57% of the market being unbranded there is a lot of opportunity for IHG to add value with our international brands.”
In the first half of this year, 4,000 rooms in 24 hotels have been signed up to operate within the IHG brand. This is the company’s best performance since 2008.
