Qantas and Tourism Western Australia have partnered with TTG Media to launch a series of competitions and events to celebrate the first-ever non-stop flight between the UK and Australia.
Qantas’s direct flight from Heathrow to Perth launches in March 2018, and will enable British travellers to reach Australia in around 17 hours.
The airline, with Tourism Western Australia, is offering UK and Ireland agents the opportunity to win one of three fam trip places, flying on Qantas’s new Dreamliner non-stop to Perth next year, as well as other prizes.
Stephanie Seymour, Qantas Airways’ head of sales for the UK and Ireland, said: “Our game-changing route truly opens up Australia for the UK market, with Perth as the new hub. As our key supporters in selling the new flights, we can think of nobody but our travel trade partners in the UK with whom we’d rather celebrate the occasion.”
Kate Bifield, Tourism Western Australia’s UK marketing manager, added: “With the UK trade so critical to selling Western Australia, we’re excited to be able to bring some of the extraordinary experiences available in the state to life for them.”
Spectacular launch parties will take place at Sea Life London Aquarium on Tuesday June 27, and at Manchester Museum of Science and Industry on Thursday June 29, with Margaret River wine-tasting, destination learning, and the chance to win cuddly quokkas, hampers and a fam trip place.
TTG readers are also challenged to make and fly the paper aeroplane in this week’s magazine, for the chance to win one of five £100 Love2shop vouchers. A further fam trip place is up for grabs for an agent who completes both the Tourism Western Australia and Qantas online training programmes.
