Leading travel industry women have pledged their support to clean water charity Just a Drop’s ‘Mums Army’ initiative at a London dinner.
Just a Drop brings clean water, sanitation facilities and hygiene education to some of the world’s poorest communities. It was founded by Fiona Jeffrey, former chair of World Travel Market.
Just a Drop believes women can benefit from projects the most, as it is women and children who bear the primary responsibility for collecting water in developing countries.
Jeffrey said: “Our Mums Army initiative is about harnessing the power of women to help other women have access to the most basic things in life: water, sanitation and hygiene education.
“With this comes better health, safety, the opportunity to grow crops, and to then trade, which helps women feed their families, pay for their children’s education and get them out of the poverty trap.
“The pledges of support expressed at supper from the ladies last night was an inspiration to the Just a Drop team and will keep us working hard to help women and their families around the world.”
