Kuoni has launched a new training course to create a group of personal travel experts to become specialists in selling holidays to same-sex couples.
The company said the initiative had been inspired by the TTG LGBT conference, held in July, which was aimed at educating the trade on how to sell travel to the LGBT market.
The first training programme will take place this week on Thursday in London, with 10 Kuoni personal travel experts from across the UK who volunteered to be part of the new team.
The full-day course will also cover destination, product information and travel advice, as well as special occasion travel and their role as a specialist advisor in marketing to attract more LGBT customers.
The operator said it would also be adding content to the website under its “expert finder” section, making it easier for customers to contact an LGBT travel expert. Mark Duguid, vice president commercial and product for Kuoni, who is leading the initiative, said: “This move was very much inspired by the TTG LGBT conference.
“In my mind there is a lot more we can do to support LGBT customers particularly given how many come to us already. “Our LGBT customers have very specific needs and it’s our job to ensure we give them the very best advice to ensure a hassle- free holiday.”
