More than 400,000 extra passengers have used Liverpool John Lennon airport so far this year compared to the same period in 2015.
The Merseyside terminal said the 12% increase made it one of the UK’s fastest growing airports and sets it on course for its busiest years since 2011.
In total 4.2 million travellers passed through the airport in the first 10 months of 2016 – bringing the number of consecutive months of passenger grow to 21.
Liverpool John Lennon said the “continued upsurge” in business at the airport followed a number of new routes from the city.
It added that further growth was expected next year with plans by Blue Air, Ryanair, Wizz Air and Thomson to expand their Liverpool operations.
