Norse Atlantic Airways has started selling tickets on flights between Norway and the US with one-way prices from $129 and services set to take off in June.
The start-up long-haul carrier said the move was a “milestone” ahead of starting flights from Oslo to New York on 14 June. Norse Atlantic will also fly from the Norwegian capital to Fort Lauderdale from 18 June, Orlando from 5 July and Los Angeles from 9 August.
The airline added that routes and fares from London to the US would be “announced soon”. Norse Atlantic has already secured slots at Gatwick.
Bjorn Tore Larsen, chief executive of Norse Atlantic Airways, added: “This is a major milestone for all of us at Norse Atlantic Airways and a testament to the dedication and determination of colleagues from across the airline who have made this possible.
“Norse now offers the lowest one-way point-to-point transatlantic fares in the market.”
Earlier this month, the airline announced that it had subleased four Boeing 787s to Spain’s Air Europa for 18 months. This deal leaves the Norse Atlantic with a fleet of 11 aircraft as it prepares to launch services.
