The managing director of a luxury tour operator has posed naked for a Calendar Girls-style calendar to raise money for cancer charities.
Jayne O’Gorman, managing director of Azure Collection, said she was compelled to get involved in memory of her mother who died from cancer.
She launched a ball to raise money for cancer charities last year and repeated it at The Chester Grosvenor this summer, raising £29,000; the date has already been set for 2016, with an event on July 8.
But O’Gorman said she felt she wanted to do more to raise money and became involved with the Have You Got The Bottle To Beat Cancer charity calendar via a friend, John McGowan.
“I had met John when he was an auctioneer at a previous ball and he asked me to get involved. He had been suffering with throat cancer and said – as with many sufferers – he wanted to try and keep busy, so this was a big project for him,” said O’Gorman.
The photograph of O’Gorman was taken in the hotel while she was getting ready for the last ball in July. “Everyone in the calendar has been affected by cancer – and of course it’s a very serious issue, but we wanted to have some fun raising money,” she said.
“I was terrified and it was nerve-wracking making the calendar, but it had to be done!”
O’Gorman features as January in the calendar, copies of which are being sent to Azure’s top Ambassador agents in their Christmas hampers. She is also hoping the travel industry will get behind her too by buying a calendar, which costs £9.95.
Calendars sold will raise funds for MacMillan Cancer Support and for St Kentigern Hospice in St Asaph, Wales.
