P&O Cruises has begun the one-year countdown to the launch of its new ship, Iona, and “pledged its long-term commitment” to homeport in Southampton – as Royal Caribbean announced plans to reduce capacity in the UK in 2020.
Iona is due to make its debut from Southampton on 14 May 2020, as part of P&O’s plans to increase capacity by more than 60% over the next three years.
Alex Delamere-White, P&O Cruises’ vice-president, sales and marketing, said: “We remain committed to providing the easiest and most convenient ex-UK holidays year-round from Southampton to the widest variety of destinations with itineraries designed specifically to appeal to our guests.”
The line will switch on the 365 “Iona Countdown” clock this week to mark the number of days until its launch.
P&O will also be holding a host of charity events for the Teenage Cancer Trust including a cycle challenge covering the round-trip distance from Southampton to the island of Iona.
Why choose P&O Cruises? The decision lies in the choice! We like to treat guests to a taste of the good life, or rather the great life!
