Transatlantic launch hit by Airbus delays

Transatlantic launch hit by Airbus delays

Primera’s transatlantic programme has been beset from the outset by delays to its fleet of Airbus A321neo aircraft.

The airline was forced to launch its Stansted-New York service in April with replacement Boeing 757 aircraft, chartered from National Airlines, following late delivery of its own Airbus.

In May, it postponed its inaugural Stansted-Toronto flights due to further Airbus delays, and chartered an aircraft for the launch of its proposed transatlantic routes from Birmingham.

However, yet further delays to its A321neo aircraft in June forced Primera to postpone its Birmingham transatlantic programme entirely until 2019.

Primera’s winter 2018/19 schedule will fly October 31 to March 31.

Its daily New York flights lead in from £149 one way, Washington £199 flying Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and Toronto £149 flying Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
