Geneva’s historic Hotel de la Paix has been rebranded as a Ritz-Carlton property following the completion of a multi-million dollar renovation.
The 152-year-old property on the shore of Lake Geneva, which is now known as The Ritz-Carlton Hotel de la Paix, Geneva, has undergone a major refurbishment and redesign over the last two years.
Hotel de la Paix became a Ritz-Carlton partner hotel in 2015 and the renovation project has been carried out in phases over the last two years. The refurbishment was completed earlier this month.
As part of the work, the hotel’s 74 rooms, including 14 suites, have been “restyled with a sleek and modern design” and feature floor-to-ceiling windows in each room.
The presidential suite is named after Grace Kelly, the former Hollywood movie star and Princess of Monaco, who was a regular guest at the hotel.
Herve Humler, president and chief operating officer of Ritz-Carlton, Bulgari and St Regis Hotels & Resorts, said: “With its storied past and legacy of outstanding service, rich culture, and culinary discoveries, Hotel de la Paix is an ideal fit for the Ritz-Carlton brand.
“I am delighted to bring the brand and our renowned service to Switzerland - the country where the legendary hotelier Cesar Ritz was born.”
As part of the refurbishment, the hotel’s public areas have been redesigned around the themes of “art, time and nature” to reflect the hotel’s lakeside location.
Two new restaurants have also opened at the hotel – Fiskebar, a “Nordic-fusion” dining concept and the Living Room Bar & Kitchen offering all-day dining.
