The Asian hotelier is to launch a bleisure hotel brand, citing a gap in the market for a suitable upscale option for modern business travellers.
Described as “an innovative concept for business hotels with a distinct lifestyle orientation”, Rosewood Hotel Group believes Khos will “turn the traditional notion of a business hotel on its head”.
The name Khos is derived from a Mongolian word meaning "pair”, and while no set locations were revealed during ILTM, the brand will “establish a global footprint in key capital cities and up-and-coming business centres", as well as resorts.
"We have created Khos to serve the needs of the new generation of business travellers, individuals who are constantly on the move and crave places to stay that understand, mirror and support their dynamic personas," said Sonia Cheng, chief executive officer of Rosewood Hotel Group. "Hotels have not kept pace with the evolution of this group of travellers and Khos reflects a new age in hospitality in which business travel is inseparable from lifestyle."
The group has also just announced the first hotel in Germany for its ultra-luxury Rosewood Hotels & Resorts brand.
Rosewood Munich is to be created in two historic buildings in the centre of the Bavarian city and will open in 2023, marking Rosewood’s seventh hotel in Europe.
It is being developed within the former headquarters of the State Bank of Bavaria and Palais Neuhaus-Preysing, an old aristocratic Baroque-style residence.
Rosewood Munich will feature 132 rooms and suites, which are to be designed to “complement the property’s original facade and iconic stairways”.
The hotel will also include a lobby lounge, restaurant and bar, plus a full-service spa with five treatment rooms, indoor pool and fitness centre. Meeting space will be created to host events for up to 400 guests.
Rosewood currently operates three properties in Europe in London, Tuscany and Paris, with further hotels scheduled to open in Vienna, Edinburgh and in Grosvenor Square, London, over the next few years.
In 2018, the group’s resort in Baha Mar, the Bahamas project which is finally starting to come to fruition, will open, as will hotels in Bali, Phnom Penh, Luang Prabang, Guangzhou and Hong Kong, which will become the flagship property for the brand.
