Ryanair is encouraging hotels to list their rooms for free via its website with an open day in London next month.
Ryanair director of ancillary revenue Greg O’Gorman said the rooms would be featured on the airline’s extranet supply channel Ryanair Rooms Direct where it claims they would be exposed to 130 million customers a year. The site attracts 50 million visitors per month.
The airline added hotels using the service would be able to avoid “high commission” on rival booking websites while it has pledged not to bid online on brand names or keywords.
O’Gorman said any commissions will be passed on to customers too as a credit that they can then spend on Ryanair flights.
He added: “We are pleased to announce the first in a series of ‘Ryanair Rooms Direct’ Open Days in cities across Europe, the first of which will be held in London in February, to give even more hotels and guesthouses the chance to sign up with Ryanair Rooms Direct.
“Hotels can list their inventory for the lowest commission available in the market, and find out how they can promote their properties directly on Ryanair.com to 130m annual customers in 33 countries across Europe.
“Ryanair.com is well on the way to becoming the ‘Amazon of Travel’, with over 600m visitors per year, so this is a great opportunity for accommodation providers to get into bed with us, and offer their inventory to more people than ever before.”
The event will be held on February 19 at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London.
