Shadow transport secretary Jim McMahon has thrown his support behind TTG’s #SaveTravel campaign.
Speaking to TTG, McMahon, who was appointed to his role by Keir Starmer in April, said he wished to “thank all of transport and travel workers for all you’ve done to keep going in what are extremely difficult times.”
“Frankly, you need and you deserve more support than is currently on offer,” he added. “If we’re to thrive, if we’re to rebuild our economy then you will play a really important part in that.
“But we know the recovery might be sustained, might take longer in travel and transport than other sectors. And the Save Travel campaign is so important because of that.
“You can guarantee that we’ll be standing side by side [with you] to make sure that when we get through the other side of Covid, you’ll thrive and you’ll help our economy rebuild.”
TTG has launched the #SaveTravel campaign to raise awareness of the fragile state of the travel industry amongst both consumers and government.
The #SaveTravel campaign is demanding sector specific financial support from government to aid the sector in its recovery.
