Silversea begins one-year countdown to Silver Moon launch

Silversea has marked the one-year countdown to the first voyage of its new ship Silver Moon.

The 596-passenger ship, which will be a sister vessel to Silver Muse, is due to embark on its inaugural trip on 6 August 2020 when it will sail from Trieste to Civitavecchia in Italy on an 11-day itinerary.

Silver Moon will introduce Silversea’s new culinary programme Salt (Sea and Land Taste) that will adapt its menus based on the destination being visited, while also offering “enhanced” lounges and public spaces compared with Silver Muse.

Silversea will also be creating a dedicated Silver Moon brochure, which will be available from late September, while top-selling agents will receive a lunar lamp to keep the new ship “top of mind leading up to launch”.

The promotional moves around Silver Moon are especially pertinent in a year of celebrations around the 50th anniversary of Neil Armstrong’s first “giant step for mankind” when he landed on the moon as part of the Apollo 11 mission.

Barbara Muckermann, Silversea’s chief marketing officer, said: “Inspired by the success of our beloved Silver Muse, Silver Moon will raise the bar in ultra-luxury travel, unlocking immersive experiences for our guests in whispered luxury.

“Incorporating unprecedented concepts, the ship will bring innovation to the industry, while maintaining the small-ship intimacy and spacious all-suite accommodations that are the hallmarks of the Silversea experience.

“From our pioneering new Salt programme to the array of reimaged public spaces, every aspect of the new ship has been thoughtfully designed to enrich guests’ experiences further still.”
