Singapore Airlines is launching its first transatlantic flight from the UK on October 30.
The Manchester-Houston route will be the second one operated by the airline out of the airport, complementing its Singapore service from the northern airport.
The new flight is also the first time the airline has operated a westbound flight out of the UK and comes shortly after the 30-year anniversary of the airline’s operations out of Manchester.
The new route is being introduced at the same time as the Manchester-Singapore route reverts to becoming a non-stop flight again.
As a result, come October 30 the current non-stop daily flight from Singapore to Manchester via Munich will become a five times a week service between Singapore and Manchester linking with a further five additional weekly services to Houston.
Sheldon Hee, Singapore Airlines general manager for the United Kingdom and Ireland, said: "Singapore Airlines is delighted to be expanding its UK network via the launch of new transatlantic flights from Manchester.
“The new Manchester-Houston flights represent Singapore Airlines’ first ever transatlantic flights departing the UK and a huge milestone in our 45 year history flying from this market.
“With this new route to the United States and our long-standing Manchester-Singapore route becoming non-stop, we are very excited to be able to welcome even more customers to experience flying with Singapore Airlines in the weeks, months and years ahead."
