Ski Solutions is to go on the acquisitions trail following its takeover by a private equity firm.
Ski Solutions, which is a specialist operator and an agency, will expand its winter programme and target the activity and adventure sector for acquisition following a £6 million investment from Mobeus Equity Partners, which has taken an undisclosed majority stake in the business.
Ski Solutions was founded in 1986 as an independent agency dedicated to winter sports in Europe and North America. It was the subject of a management buy-out in 2010 that led it to expand its tailor-made arrangements. In October 2014 it also purchased cycling and walking specialist Bspoke Tours and a year later, Cycling for Softies.
The company said the latest deal would allow it to enhance its current portfolio of brands with further activity brand acquisitions. Ski Solutions’ chief executive Craig Burton said: “We have a fantastic team assembled and the right backing to further increase our market share in ski and build the group out from our established cycle brands into the growing soft activities and adventure holiday market.”
The deal will see former Tui Travel and Scott Dunn executive John Wimbleton join as chairman.
Mobeus Partner Ashley Broomberg, who led the deal, added: “We see this as an exciting platform investment enabling us to bring the Ski Solutions luxury experience, including expert advice and excellence in client service, to a much broader range of activity holidays.
“The company caters to a very attractive demographic of affluent customers who are increasingly looking for active holidays with comfort, which are tailor-made to their requirements.”
