Flights are continuing to suffer major disruption due to severe winter weather across the UK and Ireland.
The highest levels of disruption has been taking place at airports in Scotland and Ireland, although Bristol and Cardiff airports were closed this morning and Heathrow has also reduced its schedule today (March 2).
EasyJet has cancelled all flights to and from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Bristol airports on March 2. While Ryanair has cancelled all flights from Dublin, Cork, Kerry, Knock and Shannon airports in Ireland until Saturday (March 3).
British Airways is also not operating any flights to Dublin on March 2 and added that there would be “significant reductions” in services to Edinburgh and Glasgow.
At Heathrow, the airport, airlines and National Air Traffic Services (Nats) have all agreed to reduce flight schedules on March 2.
“This joint decision has been taken to help give customers from all airlines more certainty around their travel plans,” said BA in a travel update.
Heathrow Express has also reduced its train services from Paddington to three times per hour due to the weather.
Gatwick said “many flights are cancelled or delayed today” and warned passengers to “allow plenty of extra time for your journey if you’re flying”. Stansted also warned that “some flights may be disrupted”.
There have also been cancellations at both Manchester and Birmingham airports.
Glasgow and Edinburgh airports have reopened although many flights on March 2 have been cancelled.
Bristol airport was due to reopen at 12.00 on Friday as staff worked to clear snow off the runway.
“It is a rapidly changing situation and passengers are advised to check with their airline prior to making their way to the airport,” said Bristol airport. “If their flights are cancelled passengers are requested not to make their way to the airport.”
Cardiff airport was due to reopen at 11.00 on Friday. Flybe has already cancelled all flights from the airport on Friday.
