Thomas Cook Airlines has announced winter flights from Birmingham to Cape Verde for the first time.
The new Birmingham route will be on sale from Thursday October 29, along with the rest of the short and medium haul seat-only programme for next winter.
Thomas Cook’s Gatwick to Cape Town programme, which launches on December 15, will also continue next year.
James Burrows, aviation director for Thomas Cook Airlines, said: “With the start of Comiso and Lesbos next summer and following our £100 million cabin upgrade programme and launch of our pre-order duty free service, Airshoppen, we’re offering even more choice than ever for winter sun from Birmingham.”
William Pearson, aviation director from Birmingham Airport, said: “Cape Verde is growing in popularity with both sun seekers and those with holiday homes on this beautiful island off the coast of West Africa, so this new service is a welcome addition to our winter schedule.
"Thomas Cook Airlines has committed to growth at Birmingham with additional aircraft and several new routes over the coming year.”
Flights from Birmingham to Cape Verde run from November 2 2017 until April 26 2018 and are available from £139 one-way.
The airline will also run year-round flights to Cape Verde from both Manchester and Gatwick, where previously they were only seasonal.
