Irish tour guide Ciara Flynn is swapping life on a bus for life on the ocean after being chosen as Royal Caribbean International’s official Instagrammer.
Lucky Ciara, who works for European tour firm Busabout, won a three-week "Intern-ship" this summer thanks to her photo of two Nepalese monks. The shot beat 75,000 other entrants to take the prize.
During her break, Ciara will win an all-expenses paid trip on three Royal Caribbean ships, posting her favourite pictures as she goes, plus a £3,000 prize.
The competition was designed to tap into the trend that sees more and more holidaymakers aged 18-24 researching their breaks on social media. Entrants had to Instagram inspiring pictures along with the hashtag #ExtraordinaryExplorer.
Ben Bouldin, Royal Caribbean’s associate vice-president and managing director UK & Ireland, said: “Ciara’s entry was everything we were looking for when we launched our Instagram ’Intern-ship’. Her image has strong visual appeal, originality and inspires viewers to jump out of the ordinary and explore the world.
“We’re confident Ciara will be able to skillfully shoot similarly amazing moments onboard our fleet, capturing the imaginations of the younger generation and inspiring them to consider cruising as their next big adventure.”
