TTG+ members are being offered an exclusive discount on tools to measure the carbon footprint of their business.
The move follows TTG Media’s partnership with leading sustainability consultancy TerraVerde Sustainability, which is helping TTG measure and declare its current carbon footprint and set a strategy to halve its emissions by 2030, and advising on other matters of responsible operation.
Now, as part of a joint mission to spread awareness and good practice, TTG and TerraVerde are offering TTG+ members the chance to take an active step to champion sustainability, with 33% off a TerraVerde consultancy package to help businesses measure their own carbon footprint.
“TerraVerde’s goal is to advance greener tourism by equipping travel businesses of all sizes with the tools, knowledge and practical advice to implement successful environmental strategies,” said TerraVerde director Patrick Richards.
“Sustainability should not be limited to larger players, it should also embrace the long tail of SME travel companies to help them onto the ladder. Carbon measurement is basic to any sustainable programme. We sense smaller agents might look at this as being beyond their reach but, in partnership with TTG Media, we want to change this perception.”
TTG+ members will receive a 33% discount on TerraVerde’s packages, essential elements of which include:
• Measuring carbon footprint (energy, waste, water, plastic, paper, etc) through an online portal using a verified science-based approach
• Benchmarking against peer group data
• 45 mins of telephone consultancy
• A comprehensive carbon report and business-focused recommendations to reduce environmental impact
The offer is only open to TTG+ members (both agents and suppliers) and is limited to SMEs – businesses with fewer than 25 employees and less than £7.5 million annual turnover. Those with larger businesses can contact TerraVerde directly to discuss bespoke quotes. The offer is open until the end of September.
Daniel Pearce, CEO, TTG Media, said: “TTG Media is keen to play a leading role in the conversation around decarbonisation in the travel industry and the heightened focus on sustainability as we emerge from the pandemic under our mission for Smarter, Better, Fairer travel.
“As a busy media business in travel, we know we need to work harder on our own sustainability goals. We’re really excited to begin our new partnership with TerraVerde, as well as encouraging all our fabulous TTG+ members to make use of this fantastic offer to start the journey to measure their own carbon footprint.”

“Sustainability is becoming more and more topical. We have clients asking us about carbon offsetting. We knew we could do more but we’re a small independent business so we didn’t know where to start - you need experts for this kind of thing.
“Working with TerraVerde, we’re now confident about taking a positive step forward. It’s quite a lengthy exercise but you can break it down into manageable parts so it’s not too overwhelming. And it’s already opening my eyes to the savings we could make by accessing goods more locally.
“An agent might think ‘do we want to spend this money?’ but I believe you will make that money back and more - through savings or via the PR and new business it will bring. Without doubt, I really think becoming more sustainable and reducing your carbon footprint will boost business.”
