Four mainstream travel brands have made it into this year’s Sunday Times Best 100 Mid Companies to work for.
Audley Travel, Kuoni, Hays Travel and Holiday Extras feature in the list. None made it into the top 50, with Audley the top-ranked among the quartet at number 63.
Audley was singled out for innovation such as a snug room reserved for relaxation during the working day, complete with couches, books and a TV. Audley was also praised for its strong focus on teambuilding, with a £100 per head budget to spend on activities each year.
When quizzed, 94% of staff said they were proud to work for the company, with 45% earning £35,000-plus. Audley was also praised for its proportion of female senior managers, which has reached 40%.
Kuoni, 81st in the list, has the same proportion of female executives, however only 9% of its 492 staff earned more than £35,000.
Hays Travel was 91st on the list; with staff saying their managers regularly appreciated what they did. At least 20% undertook charitable activities during business hours. Hays was also praised for being family-friendly, with school hours contracts offered to staff; but only 2% of 1,400 employees earned £35,000-plus.
Holiday Extras was in 93rd place and praised for its monthly fun events and ‘anytime’ working. Staff turnover was low at 12% and 20% earn over £35,000.
