Travel Counsellors has pledged support for former Flybe workers after the regional carrier collapsed again at the weekend, reiterating there is a well-established route from aviation into the retail travel sector.
The homeworking giant said free advice was available from its career management guide to those wishing to continue their careers in travel, potentially as agents, as well as webinars and consultations on a non-committal basis.
Matt Harding, Travel Counsellors head of franchise sales and training, said the collapse of Flybe was sad news for its customers, as well as the around 270 staff made redundant as a result.
“We are also on hand to offer support to any of the Flybe staff, who have been made redundant, and advice can be found in our comprehensive career management guide that discusses career options, planning and the job market," said Harding.
He continued: "The guide is a free resource, which is available to support anyone interested in progressing their career within the travel industry. There is no requirement to submit any contact details and there is no expectation to pursue a career with Travel Counsellors, although we do have many Travel Counsellors who have joined us from the airline industry.
“Moving forward, we will look to run a series of webinars for those affected to offer additional support and career advice. Our recruitment lines are also open to any of those looking to discuss alternative options. You can reach the team on 0161 4645243."
Harding added Travel Counsellors would prioritise leisure and business travel customers directly affected by the collapse of Flybe. "Any customers with Flybe bookings through Travel Counsellors are fully financially protected and are advised to contact their Travel Counsellor directly," he said.
