Wendy Wu Tours has appointed former Travelsphere group sales chief Glenn Thomas to the newly created role of head of group sales and partnerships.
Thomas will be tasked with driving the Far East specialist’s growth in the groups sector specifically, reporting to global sales director John Warr.
He brings more than 20 years’ experience in sales having held senior roles with Co-op Travel and more recently Travelsphere, where for 10 years he headed up the operator’s group sales division.
Thomas will have “full responsibility” for leading and developing Wendy Wu’s group sales and partnerships division, and play a key role in meeting the operator’s growth goals while building on its existing service and delivery standards.
He will also take the lead on the operator’s group promotional and educational programmes for the launch of its new river cruise ship Victoria Mekong.
“Glen’s track record, international experience, and contacts in this sector are second to none and we are thrilled to have him on board,” said Warr.
“Attracting someone of Glen’s calibre into the business is a great endorsement for our brand and ambition. He brings with him incredibly strong knowledge and experience which will be vital as we continue our plans to grow and develop touring solutions for our clients.”
Thomas added: “We have a tremendous opportunity to grow and develop the group sales business, as well as diversifying into new sectors, bringing our strong business values and service delivery to match the demands and high expectations of our clients.
“Wendy Wu’s brand, values and proven delivery models are facets I have respected as a competitor for many years, and I am excited to be on board and part of this outstanding team that will take this sector to the next level.”
