Tui Group has appointed Birgit Conix its new chief finance officer.
Conix will succeed Horst Baier when he steps down in the autumn after 22 years with the group.
She will join Tui’s executive board on July 15.
A manager with international experience across multiple sectors, Conix joins Tui from her role as chief finance officer at Belgian media and telecoms group Telenet.
Prior to her role at Telenet, Conix was senior finance director Western Europe at Heineken and has held management and leadership roles with Johnson and Johnson and its subsidiaries.
She has 25 years experience in finance across various industries, including assignments in many of Tui’s core markets in London, Amsterdam, Madrid, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf and Mexico.
Conix has been appointed on a three year term and will work closely with Baier until she succeeds him when his contract expires in the autumn.
Professor Klaus Mangold, chairman of Tui’s supervisory board, said: ”With Birgit Conix, we have recruited an international top manager as CFO for our group. With her international background and comprehensive experience from various sectors and companies, she will be a great asset to TUI.
“I am sure Birgit Conix will further expand TUI’s excellent reputation among investors and in the financial market in collaboration with the current executive board and Tui employees.”
Reflecting on Baier’s tenure, Mangold added: “On behalf of the supervisory board, I would like to thank Mr Baier very warmly for his excellent performance and his commitment to Tui.
“In his more than ten years as executive board member, he has played a crucial role in transforming the former Preussag into the world leader in tourism.
“Mr Baier was a key figure with a strategic vision and the strength to see it through to operational implementation during the merger of Tui Travel PLC and Tui AG.
“Mr Baier has been instrumental in shaping Tui and as a leadership personality with skill and expertise he is a role model for many.”
