Tui has opened its new €35 million Riu Playa Park hotel in Majorca, which has been rebuilt from the ground up.
Playa Park has been part of the Riu portfolio since 1982 but was torn down to bring it up to four-star standard.
It leaves Tui just Riu Concordia to renovate to round off a complete overhaul of its Majorca properties.
“When we considered renovating Riu Playa Park, we decided to make a bigger investment and build a new hotel which means we can go up a category and attract new customers with more of a family profile,” said chief executive Luis Riu.
“The total investment comes to more than €35 million euros and I think our customers will really appreciate the result. After this project, the only renovation left to do in Mallorca is the Riu Concordia, which will start at the end of this year and is scheduled for completion in spring 2020.”
Riu Playa Park is situated metres from the beach and offers 24-hour all-inclusive service and free Wi-Fi across its 475 rooms. It also features 17 exclusive rooms with private pool access.
Playa Park has two restaurants, Majorca serving up Spanish cuisine, and Spices focusing on twice-a-week international cuisine themes. There are also snacks available from grill Pepe’s Food.
There is a lobby bar, Mediterraneo, and swim-up bar, Cala Blava. The hotel also has two pools, one with long chairs, the other heated; guest parking; a gym; and a stage for shows and live music.
