Tui-owned Holiday Hypermarket is offering customers £22 off bookings for hotels and resorts participating in Thomas Cook’s new bookable sunbed scheme.
The company said the discount would be valid on bookings at Sentido Lanzarote Aequara, as well as the Sunprime View Suites & Spa in Gran Canaria.
It follows Thomas Cook’s announcement that it would be introducing the option for customers to pre-book sunloungers ahead of their holiday at a cost of £22.
They will even be able to determine the preferred location of the lounger from a map to determine whether it will be in the shade at certain points of the day or not.
Holiday Hypermarket said it had conducted a recent survey of 1,500 Brits, which found that more than 1 in 5 get up earlier than usual to reserve sunbeds while on holiday, while 1 in 4 agreed that they would happily pay an additional surcharge to reserve a sunbed while abroad.
“The rush for sunbeds is certainly a controversial topic, as demonstrated by the announcement of so-called ‘sunbed tax’”, said Holiday Hypermarket spokesperson Ian Crawford.
“It’ll be interesting to see whether other travel operators follow suit, however we’re pleased to help holidaymakers book their perfect sunbed at no extra cost.”
Holiday Hypermarket added that the £22 saving promised to cover the cost of reserving your sunbed of choice prior to travel – a concept that’s expected to be rolled out across all Thomas Cook’s branded hotels over the coming months.
The company said the offer would last until February 4.
