Tui has announced celebrity hot spot Los Cabos, Mexico, as a new destination, flying direct from the UK for winter 2019.
Already serving Mexico with direct flights to Cancun and Puerto Vallarta, Tui will offer the only direct flights to the destination from the UK, offering two flights a week from Gatwick from November 2019.
Tui said Mexico was its most popular long-haul gateway and had the most searches on the Tui website.
The operator will offer exclusive holiday packages to the destination’s two main resort areas – Cabo San Lucas and San Jose Del Cabo.
The area has a marina, plenty of activities and lively nightlife.
Hotels will include the Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos, Riu Santa Fe and Riu Baja California.
Tui will offer 7-, 10-, 11- and 14-night durations for holidaymakers.
Tui announced the route at Madame Tussauds London, in homage to the famous faces such as Jennifer Aniston, George Clooney and Nicole Kidman, whose holidays there in recent years have helped boosts the resort’s profile.
Andrew Flintham, Tui’s UK & Ireland managing director, said that despite mid-haul being “a real success story” consumers were still looking for “more exotic locations”.
“Mexico continues to be our most popular long-haul gateway and we are the market leaders to both Cancun and to Puerto Vallarta, so we are excited to announce the first direct to the celebrity hotspot of Los Cabos," he said.
Meanwhile, Tui will be launching its summer 2020 holidays four months early on November 8 – the earliest the operator has sold a summer programme.
Tui will offer thousands of free kids places and low deposits in its hotel concepts, including Tui Sensatori, Tui Family Life, First Choice Splashworld, First Choice Holiday Village and Suneo Club.
The programme features new Cancun flights from Doncaster-Sheffield and follows new services from Manchester to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico this winter, as well as six new routes to Hurghada across winter 2019 and summer 2020.
Mark Hall, director of product and destination experience, Tui UK & Ireland, said: “We know the inspiring, fashionable addition of Los Cabos to our Tui collection will encourage not only those who’re familiar with the destination but also those who have never visited the country before.”
Rodrigo Esponda Cascajares, managing director for Los Cabos Tourism Board, added: “We are honoured to have Tui as the first carrier to start a non-stop flight to Los Cabos from Europe, specifically from the UK.
“We will now have the opportunity to showcase the unique diversity and sophisticated region of Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico.”
