Tui UK and Ireland will not replace cruise and distribution director Helen Caron following her May promotion.
Caron was appointed Tui Group hotel purchasing director following Garry Wilson’s departure for EasyJet Holidays.
The announcement on Thursday (August 30) comes as part of a broader shake up of the Tui UK and Ireland board.
Katie McAlister, who succeeded veteran chief marketing officer Jeremy Ellis in June, has been appointed to an expanded sales and marketing director role, with responsibility for applying a single coherent strategy across Tui UK and Ireland’s customer sales and brand marketing activities.
This includes responsibility for all sales and customer contact channels across eCommerce, retail and contact centres, working with Tui’s marketing and customer experience teams.
McAlister has worked across commercial and digital roles during her nearly 20-year career with Tui, most recently that of digital director for Tui Group.
Richard Sofer, meanwhile, will see his remit broadened as he assumes the role of commercial and business development director.
Sofer will be accountable for identifying development and growth opportunities for the business alongside his current role.
This will include responsibility for Marella Cruises, with managing director Chris Hackney now reporting to Sofer.
Sofer joined TUI UK and Ireland in September 2016 as managing director of Thomson Cruises. He became commercial director in December 2017 whereby he joined the board.
All boardroom changes will come into effect on September 1.
Andrew Flintham, managing director TUI UK and Ireland, said: “The change in accountabilities for Katie and Richard allows us to increase our focus on delivering for the customer, maximise sales opportunities and improve the pace of delivery through streamlined governance.
“I’m excited about what we can achieve with this new way of working.”
