Two pilots have been charged with being under the influence of alcohol after they were arrested at Glasgow airport on Saturday.
United Airlines pilots Paul Brady Grebenc, 35, and Carlos Roberto Licona, 45, were held by police following the alleged incident.
On Monday both men appeared in private at Paisley Sheriff Court, where they were charged under section 93 of the Railways and Transport Safety Act 2003, which covers alcohol limits in aviation, the Scotsman reports.
The pilots were held in the cockpit by police ahead of the 9am flight on Saturday to Newark Airport in New York.
Their aircraft had started boarding its 141 passengers, took off at 19.15 with a new flight crew onboard.
United Airlines said the pilots, both believed to be US citizens, had been removed from service and their flying duties pending an investigation.
A spokesman said the safety of customers and crew "is their highest priority", BBC News reports.
Two Canadian pilots appeared in court earlier in July after being arrested at Glasgow airport on suspicion of being impaired through alcohol.
