The US Supreme Court is to allow President Donald Trump’s travel ban to go into effect.
Trump wants to ban travellers from six Muslim-majority countries - Chad, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen - from being permitted entry to the US.
Seven of the nine Supreme Court judges ruled in favour of Trump’s ban and lifted injunctions enforced by lower courts in the US.
But there are still other legal challenges pending in the US that means the ban will not be enforced immediately.
Federal appeals courts in California and Virginia are due to hear arguments later this week on whether the latest version of the travel ban is lawful.
Legal commentators said that the decision by the Supreme Court is likely to mean that Trump’s travel ban will eventually come into force.
