MSC Cruises has been named a World Travel Leader at WTM London – one of several companies recognised across the world for their positive impact on a specific region or sector.
The cruise line was put forward by TTG Media, as media partner of WTM London, in acknowledgment of its response during the Covid pandemic as well as its focus on sustainability.
WTM London noted how MSC maintained excitement around the brand during the last 18 months while also prioritising sustainability messages.
“[Its newest ships] feature technology to cut emissions; shore-to-ship power connectivity, allowing them to connect to local power grids while at ports; and energy efficient developments to help MSC Cruises towards its ambitious 2.5% year-on-year fuel consumption reduction target”, it added.
TTG Media CEO Daniel Pearce said MSC had “led the charge” in seeing cruise ships sail again during the pandemic. “MSC’s pro-active and industry leading safety measures also offered the sector an all-important boost during those tough times,” he added.
“At the same time, it’s been fantastic to see MSC continuing to prioritise sustainability with its newest ships – an issue that is very close to TTG’s heart as we work to promote a smarter, better, fairer travel industry.”
WTM London’s Senior Director, Simon Press, said: “WTM’s global network of media partners are in daily touch with travel and tourism professionals across our sector. Their regional know-how and connections mean that the winners of World Travel Leaders are truly representative of the best in our industry.
“We have been hugely impressed by the way that entrepreneurial travel firms and executives around the world have adapted so quickly and smartly to the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic and how they epitomise our motto of Reconnect. Rebuild. Innovate.”
