TV legend Phillip Schofield shared drinks and jokes with agent winners of Princess Cruises #DrinksOnSchofe competition in London last night.
Agents enjoyed an exclusive drinks reception at the Mondrian Hotel with the beloved presenter after securing their place through the incentive launched in May.
From imaginatively-posed selfies onboard the line’s ships, to Princess-themed songs and social media videos helped agents bag their spots to meet Schofield, who became Princess’s first brand ambassador last year.
The group also won tickets to see hit musical Wicked and an overnight stay in the capital.
Speaking to TTG, Schofield thanked the agents for their passion in promoting the cruise sector.
“Agents are where all the good work starts,” he said. “We’ve talked tonight about getting new people to take up cruising and if you can tempt them, once they are onboard they are hooked. That’s the case with my family and Princess.
“My daughter is 24 and she’d never thought about it before she came onboard with me on our last trip and is utterly sold. She’s now organising her own trip with her mates.
“That for me is what it is all about and if I can help in that way to get people who hadn’t thought about cruising to try it and think ’this isn’t what you thought it was’ – especially with Princess.
“It’s been a very good night, everyone has been absolutely lovely. When you do something like this and run a competition asking people if they want to come and have drinks with me there is always a worry that I’ll walk through the door and there will be nobody here, so thankfully that wasn’t the case – it’s been lovely.”
Rachel Poultney, Princess Cruises UK director of sales, added: “We love agents and when we ran the competition we knew it would go down a storm. It’s recognition of the hard work that they do because without them we would be nothing.
“Schofe is such a brilliant brand ambassador and he appeals to a wide variety of people. My mum loves him, my grandma loves him, I love him and I’m sure my two-year-old son would love him too if he could understand what he was saying, so the fact that we had the opportunity for the agents to meet him in person has been amazing.”
