Royal Caribbean’s president has revealed hopes that the line will be granted permission “soon” to begin sailing to Cuba.
Speaking onboard Harmony of the Seas, Michael Bayley admitted that like most other cruise lines, Royal Caribbean was very keen to add Cuba to its itineraries.
“We are very much looking forward to being able to sail to Cuba and we are in the process of talking to various authorities to get permission,” he said. “We’re waiting for approval – hopefully it will be soon.”
Bayley added that “in all likelihood” it would be on the line’s newly refurbished Empress of the Seas. “The ship is having a refit at the moment. it’s coming out on May 28, so we wouldn’t be going until the end of July, or beginning of August”, he added.
