Travel Counsellors and their families are to be offered cyber security awareness training.
“It isn’t just technology that is vulnerable to cyber security attacks – people are too, and we’re investing in this more than ever,” said chief technology officer Rob Snelson.
TCs will be given access to a gamified training course created by California-based Ninjio, with animated episodes written by Hollywood scriptwriters to explain possible threats.
“This represents a £50,000 investment for us, and there are also modules for teenagers so we can make sure all of your families are safe online too,” said Snelson.
A total of £6 million invested in technology in the last 12 months has also seen enhancements to Travel Counsellors’ in-house booking platform, Phenix.
Snelson described it as “the best travel platform on the planet” but urged TCs to use it as much as possible so it can better recommend products other TCs have sold, and products with the highest margin.
“The more you use Phenix the more data it has and the better we can amplify the knowledge of our TCs to help others,” he explained.
Upgrades to the MyTC customer app will see the addition of accommodation reviews, a payment facility, Travel Safe information and an auto-triggered ‘have a nice trip’ message.
The content and functionality of the app is also to be turned into a website for those who prefer to access it via desktop.
