Virgin Voyages will offer in-room guitars, vinyl record players and a “wardrobe team” to suite guests onboard its upcoming ship Scarlet Lady.
The line will look to the musical heritage of the Virgin brand for its RockStar Suites, for which it has revealed designs and imagery.
Among the Scarlet Lady’s accommodation is its two 2,147-square foot, top-priced cabins, the Massive Suite, which features its own music room (complete with guitar and amp), ocean views “from every corner”, a terrace complete with a Peek-a-View outdoor shower, hot tub and hammocks.
Massive Suite guests can also climb a staircase to the top of the runway outdoor table for dining and dancing.
Virgin founder Richard Branson said the line was “bringing rock and roll to the high seas” and “spoiling our sailors [passengers] like the rock stars they are”.
“Whether they want to sleep all day, praise the sun with yoga at dusk or party all night, our RockStar Suite sailors can live out their fantasies onboard Scarlet Lady,” chief executive Tom McAlpin added.
The suites, designed by Tom Dixon’s Design Research Studio, follow Virgin Voyages’ Rebellious Luxe concept, which McAlpin said sat “at the intersection of luxury and a rebellious attitude”.
There will be 78 suites onboard Scarlet Lady with a pair of Massive Suites, two Fab Suites, two Posh Suites and nine Gorgeous Suites also available to choose from among its top-priced "Mega Rockstar" options.
RockStar Suites, Virgin Voyages said, were inspired by “mega yachts and rock and roll style icons" such as Grace Jones, with yacht touches throughout the rooms with leather finishes, marble-clad bathrooms and terrazzo flooring, while each suite is equipped with a vinyl turntable.
The line said suites on its top decks would offer “the best view that money can buy” and many featuring an all-marble Peek-a-Boo shower, with a glass window carved in the centre so guests can look out at the ocean.
Guests who opt for the ship’s Mega RockStar Suites can also bathe in a Peek-a-View outdoor shower.
The sea terrace for each suite will also feature a specially-designed champagne table where an ice bucket fits at the centre of the table situated next to loungers and Yellow Leaf-brand sustainably sourced hammocks.
RockStar Suites passengers will be able to call upon Scarlet Lady’s RockStar Services Crew, from the time of booking and throughout their voyage.
Suite guests will receive early access to onboard entertainment, restaurants, excursions, a private transfer to and from the ship in Miami and an express embarkation.
They will also have their own “wardrobe team” to help unpack and repack, a complimentary pressing service and nightly express swimsuit drying service – “because no rock star should ever have a wet bottom,” said Virgin Voyages, which will offer the first round of purchases in the suite mini-bars.
All suite passenger will have access to private members’ club Richard’s Rooftop.
Until January 31, Virgin Voyages is giving consumers the chance to win the opportunity to “Party Like a Rockstar” at its next #ShipTease event in New York City on February 14.
