Sustainability is seamlessly woven into each aspect of Amilla. On arrival, guests will receive a reusable silicone Rolla Bottle; the resort employs reusable food boxes, bags, & clothing made from ocean-bound plastic; while each villa is equipped with refillable, PCR-packaged, vegan-friendly luxury amenities from cult Swedish brand 16-19 & Dutch social enterprise Marie-Stella Maris.

The Homegrown@Amilla cultivates 40 varieties of produce across 58 acres of the natural green spaces, supplying the kitchens with ingredients such as leafy greens, herbs, vegetable. The chicken coop, ‘Cluckingham Palace’, also contributes by consuming fruit & vegetable offcuts to reduce waste while supplying fresh eggs. The Homemade@Amilla offers organic island-crafted products, including soaps, scrubs, lip balms, bath salts, coconut oils, kombucha, nut milks & bread.

Amilla draws from a deep-water bore with naturally low salinity to meet the water needs - requiring far less energy to desalinate. Purified water is re-mineralised & served in glass bottles or refilled into guests’ Rolla Bottles.

In collaboration with the University of Auckland, Amilla has GPS-tagged & ringed white-tailed tropicbirds, allowing researchers to study feeding behaviour & migratory patterns. By June 2025, 100 nests had been recorded on the island, demonstrating progress in habitat preservation & species survival.

Through its partnership with Maldives Resilient Reefs, Amilla has planted over 300 coral frames, encouraging fish to return & boosting coral cover, encouraging fish populations to return & boosting coral cover. Reef fish for the restaurants are sourced directly from local fishermen, who are rewarded for sustainable practices. Collaboration with the Atoll Marine Centre further supports turtle conservation, through nest monitoring, population studies & rescue efforts.

Amilla minimises waste through its UN(do) the harm initiative. A dedicated management facility, designed around reduce, reuse & recycle, houses a glass crusher, incinerator, composter & compactor to ensure waste is processed responsibly.
