Since Asia expert, Stephan Roemer, took over the helm at Diethelm Travel in 2018, things have gone from strength to strength. The DMC reached a pivotal sales milestone earlier this year, welcomed two new regional GM’s, launched new product ranges and celebrated their fifth consecutive win as ‘Asia’s Leading DMC’.

Stephan Roemer, CEO said: “The award win is testament to our ongoing growth and commitment to delivering unparalleled services. As of July this year the business had exceeded its 2019 booking numbers, surpassing pre-COVID levels for the same period (Jan-Jul) by more than 50%. This accomplishment showcases the company’s resilience and ability to thrive even in the most challenging times.”

Under the guidance of a new and dynamic management team, Diethelm Travel has taken a new strategic direction. One of the key factors contributing to recent success has been their commitment to product development and diversification.

“Consumers’ expectations are changing. I am proud that Diethelm Travel have become a pioneer for such meaningful travel experiences in Asia” added Roemer.

The company has introduced exciting new tours and dynamic packaging options, making it easier for partners to collaborate and providing them with innovative and exciting ways to package travel experiences for their customers.

“We’ve developed the ‘Heritage Collection’ for Thailand, an exclusive series of seven new hands-on trips that focus on rediscovering the country’s age-old treasures and hidden gems with a fresh perspective. By working with small local companies and guides, who are deeply rooted in their communities, we actively and directly support the local people and their crafts,” said Stefan Bruns, regional GM for Thailand.

Vietnam is also a rapidly changing country and at the forefront of Diethelm’s product development. Guilhem Cavaillé, regional GM said: “We see exciting opportunities and are creating more immersive and meaningful tours that are inclusive of local communities.”

This is just the beginning for a more sustainably successful future for Diethelm. Find out more at WTM 2023.
