The trip brought together retail staff and travel members from Barrhead Travel to Lanzarote, to showcase how sustainable holidays can be brought into the mainstream.
Taking place over 27-30 August 2026, the trip was co-hosted with Hyatt Inclusive Collection, with the group staying at Secrets Lanzarote Resort and Spa and touring Grand Hyatt Lanzarote Playa Dorada Resort, both part of easyJet holidays’ Certified Sustainable hotel collection.
Attendees learned about easyJet holidays’ Holiday Better initiative, focused on:
- Helping customers make better holiday choices by making more sustainable travel affordable
- Keeping package holidays special by maximising the benefits and minimising the impacts of tourism
- Transforming travel for everyone by embedding sustainability across its business
The itinerary included an interactive destination challenge, giving agents first-hand insight into Lanzarote’s culture, community initiatives and how holidaymakers can support local economies whilst travelling.
Attendees also engaged in a roundtable discussion exploring customer attitudes towards sustainability and sharing ideas on how to drive more sustainable easyJet holidays bookings.
Mille Cathcart said: “The trip has given me a much better understanding of sustainability within the travel industry. Since returning to work, I've been able to share what I learned with my colleagues and use that knowledge when speaking with customers. It has helped me feel more confident discussing sustainable travel options and explaining how choosing more responsible holidays can have a positive impact on local communities and the environment.”
Maja Birrell added: “A sustainability FAM trip is a great way to combine product knowledge with a better understanding of responsible tourism, while giving us the confidence and knowledge to promote sustainability in a genuine and engaging way.”
