Global not-for-profit CDP runs the world's only independent environmental disclosure system. The score is an improvement from last year's B.

Factors behind the upgrade include showing leadership and best practice with regards to decarbonising its operations, as well as setting science-based targets and developing plans to further reduce emissions in future.

Jet2's recent actions include:

– Publishing its climate transition plan, focused on existing technologies and tangible actions that can be taken currently. This will see Jet2.com reduce its carbon emissions per revenue paying passenger kilometre (gCO2/RPK) by 35% in 2035 compared to 2019 (43.55gCO2/RPK in 2035 vs. 67gCO2/RPK in 2019)

– The introduction of new Airbus A321neo aircraft into the Jet2 fleet offering over 20% greater fuel efficiency and 50% less noise—demonstrating a commitment to sustainable growth, with billions invested in a firm order for 155 of these next-generation aircraft

– Improving fuel efficiency from new technology and weight reduction initiatives, such as retrofitting split scimitar winglets onto 70 Boeing 737-800 aircraft, reducing fuel burn by up to 1.8%, and investing in Storkjet, a new fuel efficiency system that is helping to drive operational efficiency and reduce emissions

– Increased use of electric vehicles, with over 55% of Jet2 owned ground service equipment now electric

– Replacing more than 22 million single-use plastic items with alternative materials

– Offering more than 1,500 hotels with a certified sustainable accreditation, giving customers more sustainable accommodation choices with Jet2holidays

– Installing solar PV roof panels at its new Manchester airport maintenance hangar
