Norrøna, the 97-year-old Norwegian outdoor brand, has revealed The Norrøna Lodge at Andørja, opening in June 2027 on Northern Europe's most mountainous island.
The lodge is designed for travellers seeking raw nature and real adventure without sacrificing comfort, and marks the first step in Norrøna’s vision for an Arctic Voyage – a network of lodges along one of Norway's most untouched coastlines.
Located on an island where 20 peaks rise more than 1,000m from the fjords, the lodge has been designed by Norrøna with Dark Arkitekter. Its main building was originally a research centre for basking sharks, and Norrøna has built around the existing site rather than starting from scratch.
The lodge will feature 15 cabins for up to 30 guests, plus a restaurant, lounge and bar, two wood-fired saunas and a Norrøna shop. Built from solid timber and set on poles, the cabins and boardwalks are designed to minimise the impact on the surrounding vegetation, with no road access to the site.
Open year-round, stays will be fully inclusive, covering guiding, dining, recovery and transport. Guests arrive by boat from the airport (weather permitting), with experiences tailored to the season and individual interests – from skiing, hiking, mountaineering and trail running beneath the midnight sun to northern lights, snowshoeing and fishing in winter.
Andørja also provides access to neighbouring islands including Rolla, Grytøya and Senja, with many peaks reachable only by water. Back at the lodge, meals will showcase local Arctic ingredients including king crab, sea urchin, foraged berries and wild herbs, while saunas, hot tubs and fjord dips offer time to unwind.
