The awards give a host of luxury travel suppliers the chance to win recognition from the luxury agent community, with our hand-picked roster of agents rating the shortlisted finalists in order to decide the overall winner in each supplier category.
Suppliers entered themselves for categories and were then rated by our hand-picked community of luxury travel agents.
This year, the community of agents who rated has been refreshed and included entrants in the Luxury category of TTG’s Top 50, all past TTG Luxury Travel Awards finalists and Luxpo attendees. This means we know a range of the very best and experienced agents rated the companies they felt really stood out.
Please note that Best New Luxury Hotel was judged by an external media panel of luxury and travel editors and journalists.
The Contribution to Luxury accolade is decided by the team at TTG Luxury and announced only on the day of the awards.
Luxury Operator of the Year
Luxury Operator of the Year is deemed to be a company that offers a wide portfolio of worldwide product for sale predominantly through agents. This category will be seeking to find the company that has demonstrated exemplary levels of service to its clients and agents and offers a consistently progressive level of luxury product. This will be rated by agents.
Specialist Luxury Operator of the Year
Specialist Luxury Operator of the Year is deemed to be a company that offers a product portfolio focused only on one particular region of the world, country or product niche that is available for sale through agents. This category will be seeking to find the company that has demonstrated exemplary levels of service to its clients and to its agent community, while offering an excellent level of product particular to its specialisation. This will be rated by agents.
Ultra-luxury Cruise Line of the Year
This category is for companies whose ships offer an incredibly high staff-guest ratio, leading to high levels of ship-wide guest recognition and customer service. The space per guest ratio will also be extremely generous and there are likely to be fewer and larger cabins. Dining will tend to be flexible and open, with guests not confined to using particular restaurants on the ship at set times. This will be rated by agents, who will be thinking of the line’s service and support to the trade, customer satisfaction of their clients and consistently delivered and evolving luxury product.
Premium Cruise Line of the Year
A premium cruise line will be deemed as one that tends to offer sophisticated options in terms of dining and design, but perhaps on a larger ship, one which also prides itself on offering a host of facilities and entertainment. It may also offer a “suite product” within the ship itself, for example. Ships tend to be four-star or above with elegant decor, a friendly informal level of service and gourmet cuisine and/or alternative restaurants. The category will be agent rated, based on the company’s support of the trade, service to customers and consistent delivery of quality product and innovation.
Premium Air Experience of the Year
This category is to identify the airline, or aviation experience (for example, private jet travel) provider that offers the most consistently impressive premium (business and/or first) product (aircraft cabin, food and drink, lounge and other services) while also showing high levels of customer service, innovation and support of the trade. This will be rated by agents.
Best New Luxury Hotel of 2019
Hotels enter themselves and can be part of a group, or an independent hotel and must have opened between September 2018 and 30 September 30 2019. The winner will be decided by a panel of luxury travel and lifestyle journalists and editors who will be looking at how impactful the hotel has been in the destination, the quality of its design, level of innovation, attention to sustainability and service proposition.
Luxury Hotel Company of the Year (large group)
This category aims to discover the large hotel group (25 properties and over) that offers the most consistently high levels of product innovation, guest service and support of the trade in the UK. The group’s portfolio can be located anywhere in the world. This category will be rated by agents
Luxury Hotel Company of the Year (small group)
This category aims to discover the small hotel group (less than 25 properties) that offers the most consistently high levels of product innovation, guest service and support of the trade in the UK. The group’s portfolio can be located anywhere in the world. This category will be rated by agents
Contribution to Luxury Travel
This award is for the individual deemed to have made the most significant impact on and within the luxury travel sector and will be decided by the in-house team at TTG Luxury and revealed on the day of the awards. Past recipients include Matthew Upchurch, chief executive of Virtuoso (2019), and Justin Wateridge, managing director of Steppes (2018).
