With Brits likely to be able to travel to destinations including Greece from July due to the government’s air bridge agreements, Abra Dunsby speaks to operators about what a holiday there and to nearby Cyprus could now entail.
With the government having announced air bridge agreements with destinations including Greece, allowing Brits to travel there without having to quarantine travel from July, travel could soon be a possibility once again for holidaymakers once FCO restrictions ease.
Both Greece and nearby Cyprus have revealed plans to cover the holiday costs of anyone who tests positive for coronavirus after travelling there in a bid to welcome back more visitors who might otherwise be nervous about travelling.
Sunvil has reported “green shoots” of a return to travel for both destinations, with an increase in enquiries and web searches for August onwards, as well as for 2021 trips.
Dudley der Parthog, director at Sunvil, says he believes the destinations’ small numbers of Covid-19 fatalities have contributed to the perception that they are relatively safe holiday options.
“Both countries have had such good Covid records, with very few deaths. The destinations both coped very well with the situation,” he says.
Here we speak to operators for their predictions for the Greece and Cyprus markets.
