Barcelona has reinstated its twin city agreement with Tel Aviv.
This renewed commitment signals the determination of both cities to rebuild the strong relationship they enjoyed in the past.
The sister cities have much in common as popular tourist destinations for younger generations. Both are incredible beach cities with a diverse cultural scene. They also boast a dynamic gastronomic offering and both are often recognised for their vibrant and fun nightlife. The two metropolises are also champions of inclusivity, highlighted by their huge Pride celebrations that took place earlier this year. Whether it is the art, food, weather or atmosphere, these beautiful municipalities have so much in common and therefore it is no surprise that both Tel Aviv and Barcelona have been twinned since 2013, when the initial agreement was made to help promote tourism between the two.
Speaking on the renewed ties, Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai said, “Barcelona and Tel Aviv are leading cities and hubs of technology and innovation. They attract tourists who enjoy wonderful beaches, as well as investments in start-ups. They also lead in art and culture and aspire for equality and diversity.”
