2024 Centenary of Biodynamics
This year will see Heckfield Place celebrate the 100 year anniversary of biodynamics and the importance of the role of regenerative farming practices. Renowned for its forward-looking commitment to biodiversity and sustainability, the estate will host a series of curated events from June to September, inviting guests to engage with the principles and practices of biodynamic agriculture.
Fruits of Labour
Two exclusive summer events, part of the centenary celebrations, will feature Spring Restaurant’s Head Pastry Chef and Heckfield’s pastry consultant, Sarah Johnson.
On 6th July, guests are invited to join Sarah and Head Grower at Heckfield Home Farm’s biodynamic Market Garden, Jane Scotter, for an enlightening journey through the bountiful fruit produce of Heckfield’s Home Farm. The event will feature an extended produce sale, allowing visitors to appreciate the finest seasonal fruits. Attendees will have the opportunity to join a 45-minute guided tour and discussion led by Sarah and Jane, exploring the nuances of fruit cultivation.
On 20th July, Heckfield Place invites Friends and resident guests to a unique demonstration in the Glass House within the Walled Garden. This event, hosted by Sarah, will showcase innovative ways to utilise and work with fruit when cooking, including fruit pairings. Attendees will be treated to tea, coffee and cake, and the day will be co-hosted by Heckfield’s Head Pastry Chef, Ellen de Jager.
Farm Suppers
As part of the summer centenary celebrations, Heckfield Place presents a series of Farm Suppers, each with its own unique theme:
● Saturday, July 27th: Supper - Time of Soft Fruits
● Saturday, August 17th: Supper - Time of Abundance
● Sunday, September 22nd: Sunday Lunch - Time for Harvest
Set in picturesque locations across the Market Garden, Home Farm and estate, guests are invited to feast on a sharing menu made with the very best summer ingredients from Home Farm - with Culinary Director Skye Gyngell and her team at the helm.
