Visit Florida is excited to announce Jimmy’s Taste of Florida – a new five-part food travelogue series with TV presenter and farmer, Jimmy Doherty, that will air on ITV between 12-16 February 2024 at 14:00.
In classic food travelogue style, Jimmy cooks and eats his way around some of Florida’s most epic landscapes. He shares food stories with an astronaut at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, races the fastest oyster shucker in the USA in Panama City Beach, fulfils a childhood dream zipping through the Everglades on an airboat, and cowboys Florida-style at the Westgate River Ranch in Central Florida.
Within the series, Jimmy explores Florida’s exciting culinary scene, which takes influences from Southern, Creole, Caribbean, Hispanic and European cuisines. Matched by its rich culinary heritage, the Floridian sunshine serves as inspiration for Jimmy’s recipes, as he serves up dishes from slick kitchens in Pensacola and Orlando through to campfires in New Smyrna Beach.
Jimmy visits a total 10 Florida locations, covering well-trodden favourites, such as Miami, Tampa, Universal Orlando, and lesser-known areas including Anna Maria Island and St Petersburg.
Jimmy Doherty said, “I love the USA but didn’t know Florida well, so I jumped at the chance to explore a favourite holiday destination for Brits through its food… and it didn’t disappoint! From boiled peanuts to Michelin-starred fine dining and everything in between, Florida has a great food story to tell. I’m a cook rather than a chef, so I was on the lookout for simple, accessible, easy dishes that anyone can have a go at, and of course, I met some great characters along the way too!”
